IHS – Emergency Management • IHS Mission • - to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of • American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level. • Examples of EM Related events which have occurred in IHS area’s of responsibility • - Hurricanes • - Severe Weather/Tornadoes/Flooding • - Earthquakes • - Manmade Disasters/Bombing • - Forest Fires • - Extreme Cold Weather / Snow Fall

IHS – Project TransAm • Project TransAm is a Program Which Provides New or Lightly Used Equipment & Supplies to Federally Recognized Tribes, and IHS Service Units • Began as an IHS/DOD Collaborative Effort • Serves to Offset Costs of Operations by IHS & Tribal Medical and Emergency Management (EM) Programs • Free of Charge to IHS & Tribal Medical and EM Programs

IHS – Project TransAm • Equipment and Supplies are Obtained from Other Federal Agencies Through GSAXcess and Direct Transfers • Items are Shipped Either to TransAm Warehouse or Direct to Customers • Customers Can Select Warehouse Items from Inventory Lists • Ownership of Items is Transferred to Customer via HHS-22
