Hospital Engagement Network • CMS funded Program to reduce hospital acquired conditions by 40% and readmissions by 20% by 2013 • HENs provide resources to hospitals to achieve goals • KHA is leading HEN activities in Kentucky and is partnered with the AHA’s HRET • Obtained participation from 100 hospitals • HENS work in 10 targeted areas • Stay Fit: CLABSI, CAUTI, SSI, VAP • PIVOT: VTE, Pressure Ulcers, Falls • GO RED: Readmissions, Adverse Drug Events • Early Elective Deliveries

  3. GOALS CMS Goal KHA Goal Every Kentucky birthing hospital participates in the OB Collaborative, in addition to other focus areas • Reduce EED by 40% by 2013 • See improvement by August, 2012 • Many other states have already implemented successful programs and achieved quick results

  6. Kentucky Gets Grade of “D” • Kentucky gets a “D” in The March of Dimes 2011 Premature Birth Report Card • Kentucky’s most recent Premature Birth Rate was 13.6%, higher than the US rate of 12.2%
