Purpose • Title I requires that parents have an active voice in the development of: • The CLIP (Comprehensive Local Implementation Plan) • Building Level School Wide Plans and • Development of the School(s) compact • System Parental Involvement Policy • School Level Parental Involvement Policy
Purpose • Title I requires that parents understand the school system’s mechanisms that support parental involvement in their child’s learning and achievement.
What is Title I? • Title I A- Improving Academic Achievement • From the Department of Education Support Operations Manual: • Title I is part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This act provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to LEAs (Local Education Agencies) and public schools with high numbers children experiencing poverty to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards. • LEAs target the Title I funds they receive to public schools with the highest percentages of children from low-income families. These funds may be used for children from preschool age to high school. Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards in order to reinforce and enhance efforts to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support parental involvement. • Under Title I, LEAs are required to provide services for eligible private school students as well. The Title I services provided by the LEA for private school participants are designed to meet the educational needs and supplement the educational services of eligible private school students. These services must be developed in consultation with officials of private schools. • To date: • Through the development of school improvement plans on the building level and development of Title I plans through the office of the Title I Director, Miller County School system ensures Title I supplemental services by providing the following: • Parental Involvement Coordinator • Academic Coaches to provide instructional support for classroom teachers • Intervention Teachers • CRCT Coachbooks • Computer Labs • Interactive Student Response Systems • Interactive Whiteboard technology for Classrooms • Instructional software to assist students experiencing academic difficulties • Software to assist teachers in designing appropriate interventions for struggling learners • Data collection software to assist teachers with instruction and making sound decisions for struggling learners
CLIPComprehensive Local Implementation Plan • The CLIP is a cooperative effort between administrators and teachers that links the Principal’s school improvement plans to the upcoming school year’s Federal programs such as Title I. • Title I requires that parents have the opportunity to understand what is being reported in the CLIP prior to it being reported to the State Department for approval. • Title I requires that parents have the opportunity to participate in the development in the CLIP by giving comments and suggestions regarding the development of the plan.

HSSchool Improvement Plan/Title I Services “The measurable goals/benchmarks we have established to address the needs of the school are meeting the requirements of the CCRPI by the 2014-2015 school year, increasing the pass rate in Math by 5% on the EOCT in grades 9 and 10, increasing the pass rate in Science by 3% in grades 9-12, and increasing the pass rate in Social Studies by 5%. We are also going to utilize the Write Score writing program. In conjunction with MCMS, we have received the 21st Century grant. HSSchool Improvement/Title I Services • Academic Coach • Provide credit recovery for students that are behind in earning carnegie units for graduation. • Coach Books • Software to improve achievement for struggling learners and to generate data in order for teachers to improve instruction. Improvement of use of technology- student access to labs, portable devices and increasing teacher capability of interactive whiteboard technology. • Support the school in updating classroom computers
CLIP • Maintain reporting of Teacher and Leader Keys • Provide On-going professional development • Maintain operation of Parental Involvement Center with simulated classroom, schedule of classes for parents, and lending library. • Increase the amount of co-teaching for SWD.

CLIP • Improve reliability and validity of data collection processes in the school(s) • Edit and revise safety and crisis plans • Encourage community partnerships • Enhance roles of Academic Coaches • Increase number of reward schools as defined by CCRPI • Increase awareness of CCRPI
CLIP • Increase teacher’s ability to implement the Common Core through staff development • Improve effectiveness of teachers as mentors • Provide innovate solutions to fiscal constraints • Continue to monitor recommendations made by SACS
CLIP • Improve graduation rate including SWD • Improve Post-Secondary Outcomes of SWD • Improve SPED teacher’s skills at effective transition planning. • Continue technology support through Title VIB • Continue administrative monitoring of standards based classrooms to ensure effective differentiation in instruction.
