Development of Ideas for a Creative Media Product Chat Room • For my Final Major Project I am going to adapt Chat Room and create a multi media stage play. • The original stage play was created by the Irish playwright Enda Walsh and was then turned into a film by Director Hideo Nakata. • The subject matter is online safety and the threats and dangers of using the internet. Adapted by Dante O’Connor

Identify the target audience you would like to address: • This project is a piece of theatre concerning online safety. • For this reason it could be considered suitable for most audiences., however, some of the subject matter is mature, so it wouldn’t be suitable for younger audiences. • The film aspect of Chat Room was rated by the BBFC as a 15 (http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B004G7FDKK).

Identify the range of resources and materials available to you Crates for wall Crash mat Desk 5 chairs 2 laptops for onstage + media Editing software Adobe Flash 3 spotlights Costumes • Video camera with memory card • 6 character actors • Green screen • White cloth screen for back projection • 2 projectors + laptops • Plyboard & wood for door • White Paint • Can of black spray paint • Card for stencil • 6 foot art canvas

The project • I plan to create two scenes from the Chatroom and film the live performance for the final major project • The first scene is the introduction of the main characters and how they interact in the chatroom • The second scene is where William has hacked into the system to appear as Jim.
