Motivation • Current digital cable systems • Long, clumsy wires • Awkward jack placement • One receiver box per TV • . Other options • Windows Media Center Extender • AI Tech Wireless Cable • ….Not everyone is a tech wiz. Most people prefer to just plug in and play Architecture Motivation Overview Requirements Plan 3
Available Solutions AITech Wireless Cable TV: Limited Functionality • Need lots of expensive equipment to implement • Will take the average person a decent amount of time to set up (hardware and networking) • Can only broadcast one channel per transmitter • Need specialized remote to change channel Architecture Motivation Overview Requirements Plan 3
Proposed Solution • Develop a system that would use radio frequencies to transmit cable signal. • Create a transmitter able to broadcast multiple channels to different TVs. • Create a receiver that will require no external control to receive broadcast. • Use a smart phone to control channel being watched on each TV. Requirements Specifications • Cost: Under $200 • Size: Transmitter box should be 8x6x2 or smaller. Receiver will be small enough to plug right into back of TV. • Easy to Control: Omni-directionally transition, easy to use interface • Multiplicity: transmit separate channels to up to four different TVs. • Security: Password protected user accounts on server, parental control • Legality: uses ISM bands • Ability: work at distances up to 150 feet. Architecture Motivation Overview Requirements Plan 4
Technical Specifications • The demodulated signal will have an acceptable signal to noise ratio and signal strength so that the QAM tuner in the TV can decode the incoming signal • Power: The device will be powered by a 12VDC wall outlet power adaptor. • Reception at distances up to 150 feet • Maximum interference between adjacent channels will not degrade TV image • SNR 30dB • Impedance 75 Ohm • Bandwidth IF 6-800MHz • Temp -40C-85C • RF Frequencies 2.406-2.430MHz Architecture Motivation Overview Requirements Plan 4
