Many South Africans love sports, and the country's mild climate enables people to spend much of their leisure time outdoors. • Soccer is the country’s most popular sport. • Other sports include, Tennis, bowls (lawn bowling), golf, field hockey, boxing, athletics (track and field), and water sports. About 80% of south Africa’s people are Christians. • About 15 million of South Africa’s people belong to independent churches which mix Christianity andtraditional African believe. • Most African’s belong to churches known as the Dutch Reformed churches. They have nearly 3 million members. • Other Christian churches in South Africa include, Anglican, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational, and Lutheran churches. • The reason there is such an extensive number of different religions/ types of religions, in the Southern part of Africa alone is from all of the different people from other countries that have invaded and spread the different religions through the region.
