Culture: Shared beliefs and values of group: the beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior of a particular nation or people • Roots: Base or origin But do we understand cultural roots?
Many South Africans love sports, and the country's mild climate enables people to spend much of their leisure time outdoors. • Soccer is the country’s most popular sport. • Other sports include, Tennis, bowls (lawn bowling), golf, field hockey, boxing, athletics (track and field), and water sports. About 80% of south Africa’s people are Christians. • About 15 million of South Africa’s people belong to independent churches which mix Christianity andtraditional African believe. • Most African’s belong to churches known as the Dutch Reformed churches. They have nearly 3 million members. • Other Christian churches in South Africa include, Anglican, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational, and Lutheran churches. • The reason there is such an extensive number of different religions/ types of religions, in the Southern part of Africa alone is from all of the different people from other countries that have invaded and spread the different religions through the region. Religious law governs family life in every Middle Eastern country except Turkey. In Saudi Arabia, women are required to wear a veil in public that covers their faces. In Iran, women must cover their heads. In other countries, women can choose whether to wear a veil or head cover. Government
