HR & PR Setup Options • Roll Down Silently or via Prompt? • Where is it? • Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | Human Resources | Benefits and Deductions | Benefit Preferences • What does it do? • When this option is marked, the sync to payroll happens automatically, and without user interaction. • When the option is not marked, saving a benefit will trigger a user prompt

HR & PR Setup Options • Payroll view for Human Resources • Where is it? • Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | System | User • What does it do? • When this option is marked, a “roll down” or “push to payroll” will occur. • Roll Downs happen silently (Automatically) or by user Prompt • What if I don’t use it? • If you don’t use this option, your benefits and deductions will not be in sync. • Staying in Sync means manually setting up a Deduction or using the Reconcile Function

HR & PR Setup Options • Using the HR Reconcile Feature • Where is it? • Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Utilities | Human Resources | Reconcile • What does it do? • Creates missing records to keep the two “sides” in sync. • Provides a Report of records that need attention. • Important!! • Should only be used after a backup is made • Only use in special circumstances like setting up HR for the first time after Payroll has been active • When in doubt… DON’T!

Benefit & Deduction Card Setup • Life Insurance • Where is it? • Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup| Human Resources | Benefits & Deductions | Life Insurance • What does it do? • Used to create an aged-based or fixed amount life insurance benefit. • Define maximum coverage amounts. • Able to be continued after the employee leaves the company. • Premiums for an aged-based benefit change with the employee's age. (Updated Daily)

The plans set up in this window can be used as default entries for setting up employee benefits. • This window can be used for applying changes to employee benefit cards. • Can be included in employee classes. • Can include: medical insurance, dental insurance and vision insurance.

For example, a parking allowance might be a benefit, union dues might be a deduction, and a donation to a charity with matching funds from the employer might be both a benefit and a deduction.

Making Changes in Bulk • Make the change on the Card, not each employee • When bulk changes are needed, go the benefit card and make the change • When saving, a prompt will be given • What does it do? • Saying yes takes the changes you have made to the card, and applies them to all Active Employee records that use this card. • If you choose no, the changes won’t be applied to existing records, however, when a new record is created, it will use the new settings from the card.
