UNSD – DFID project: Future plans until Jan 2015 Improving the collation, availability and dissemination of development indicators (including the MDGs)
International workshops • All project countries are invited to the 4th workshop • This will take place in Phnom Penh, 21 – 25 Apr • Aim is to resolve data & mapping issues and assist in the general use of technology • Further activities at the international level are being planned…
Metadata follow-up • Establish full metadata exchange with all countries (either through SDMX/ handbook). • Once a first draft of the metadata handbook / document is complete, … • Continue to conduct follow-up events on metadata in project countries with participants from across National Statistical System (NSS) • Continuous process, shouldn’t stop with publication of a handbook
feedback loop s National Statistical Office NSO to review and feedback in new data and metadata Publish & register new data and metadata National Registry Step 4: Prepare report on explanations for country/ intl. agency Notification & download Step 1: Review of country data and metadata Step 2: Classify series as “exact”, “consistent” or “discrepant” Step 3: Review metadata of “consistent” and “discrepant” series for explanations Upload, publish & visualise Review match with intl. series
Expand the number of indicators (including non-MDGs), time series and observations exchanged with existing countries. • This takes significant time (update DSD) will work closely with interested countries (i.e. Palestine, Thailand and Viet Nam)
Software • 1 remaining local country installations need to be upgraded to version 7 • An installer package is final piece of development under the software and will be used whenever a country wishes to update their software
Raising awareness • Planning of further launch events in country (where appropriate) • Project will continue to assist NSO to make project outputs relevant and useful to key users (i.e. Ministry of Planning/ Finance) and promote this approach.
MoU Installments • New UN accounting rules require more frequent expenditure reporting • There is an expectation from UN/DESA finance certain documentation are provided; - Signed set of accounts for current expenditure AND forecast expenditure - These should mirror budget lines agreed in MoU and reported in local currency AND USD. - MoU provided estimates, so expenditure should be ‘in-line’ but not exact to those estimates - Important to notify of any change to bank account
Evaluation • Independent contractor chosen by UNSD and DFID • 4 countries chosen for visit to conduct specific case study • Start Summer to Autumn 2014 • Used to guide a future project
