Topic : “ Life in the Future”an extension of a unit in Grade 10 English textbook--English as a foreign language for Chinese students.The purpose* Have students talk about life using the future tense /sentence patterns and phrases.
Teaching strategy*student collaborative learning * inquiry-based learning/Task-based learning (the focus of current curriculum reform in China).
Preparation: students work in groups of 4-5 people to create a short video about life in the future.
Activities 1. Teacher lead in using Teacher created video about FUTURE 2. Collaborative inquiry learning project * students share video products / make presentation in the next class *other students make comments. * students visit classroom blog /vote. 3. Group Discussion * students discuss a controversial question in group “Twice befinits or Double trouble” * one student take notes using Penzu.com . 4. Singing • have students listen to a song about FUTURE “ Whatever will be, will be” 5. * have students write about their life in future on classroom blog*Have students respond to others’ work on the blog
