  1. Responsible Parenting Program Fourth Judicial District El Paso County Bridging the Gap to Responsible Parenting Together!

Goals of the Program • Assist Non-Custodial Parents in overcoming barriers to paying their child support. • Develop good paying behavior in effort of maintaining consistent, full payment as ordered. • Develop a plan to help Non-Custodial Parents with maintaining good paying behavior after they exit the Responsible Parenting Program.

  3. Who Is Eligible? Non-Custodial Parents who have not made payments to their child support case as ordered, have had a contempt filed and served upon them and have expressed an interest in receiving help with removing barriers to paying their support.

  4. Incentives Available Through the Responsible Parenting Program • Helps to avoid a possible jail sentence. • Help in confronting roadblocks to making payments. • Provide access to treatment and/or professionals who can assist the Non-Custodial Parent. • Assist with bus passes or gas vouchers for employment searches through the Parent Opportunity Program. • Compliance with CSEU for driver’s license suspensions. • Possible relief of state debt. • Suppression of most enforcement remedies with compliance. • Expedited review hearings. • Fast track modification if appropriate. • Access to one enforcement case manager, Parent Opportunity case manager, Goodwill case manager and Fatherhood Specialist.

  6. General Rules and Requirements • Good faith payments in Phase I, continued payment of MSO in Phase II and continued payment of MPD in Phase III. • Show up on time for all Court hearings and appointments. • Be employed or progressing towards employment at all times during the program. • Pursue a GED if necessary/appropriate. • Attend a financial literacy course. • Attend parenting classes or other programs as ordered by the Court.

  7. Program Progress NCP enters a guilty plea with a minimum 18 month deferred sentence. Movement through the phases is based on payments received. Sanctions Final Review
