Major Tool and Machine’s NCSX Prototype Vacuum Vessel (PVVS). Dies for each plate were first machined out of blocks of Kirksite. A 500 ton press was used to form the panels. The panels were mounted on a fixture to hold the shape and welded together.

Major Tool and Machine’s NCSX Prototype Vacuum Vessel (PVVS) • Dies for each plate were first machined out of blocks of Kirksite. • A 500 ton press was used to form the panels. • The panels were mounted on a fixture to hold the shape and welded together. • The tube was welded on, leak checked, cut off, and rewelded on. • The part was polished and final measurements were taken. The PVVS was completed within +/- 3/16”
