Vacation Intermediate Algebra
Project • Your task is to plan a vacation and see how much it will cost. You must include the following information: • Destination • Duration (how long) • How many people (alone, with friends or family) • Cost of food • Transportation • Activities (what will you do while you are there?)
Power Point • Display your information in a PowerPoint. You may use this PowerPoint as a guide. • At the end of the project, you will present your vacation to the seniors in your class.
You must cite your sources! • Record where you find your information • If you use a website like expedia.com, please indicate this. • Ex. Cost for Hotel Simpson: $300 a night (expedia.com)
Budget • You can only spend between $500 and $3,000, total. If you are bringing guests, make sure you can afford to take them under this budget.
Step 1: Destination • Choose any destination in the world that you want to travel to. • It could be somewhere you have already been or somewhere you have never been and want to visit. • Describe the location. Use pictures and be specific.
Step 2: Duration • Decide how long you will stay. • This will impact the cost so keep this in mind as you plan.
People • Are you traveling alone or with friends or family? • Be sure the total cost reflects the amount of people traveling
Lodging • Where will you (and guests) be staying? (hotel, with friendly locals, etc)
Activities • What will you do while there? • Zip lining, Tours, etc. • Include a list of activities and their cost
Transportation • What will it cost to travel to and from the location? • You can choose any method of transportation. • Plane, train, bus, car rental, (if using your own car calculate fuel cost), etc • If a website requires you to specify a date, use June 20, 2014 • How will you travel while on vacation?
Food • Plan meals for each day. • Will you eat at restaurants? • List all restaurants and an estimated cost. Many restaurants have menus online that you can use to calculate cost. • You must highlight at least 3 restaurants.
