Understanding Three Key Components • Professionalism/Ethics Organizational Structure School Culture • First Impressions • Who are the people in YOUR Neighborhood? • Demographics of the school and community • School Mission Statement and Goals • Building a Relationship with your Cooperating Teacher
Important Items Introduce yourself to those staff members who run the school. Be on Sign In and Out Every Day! Make three phone calls if you cannot be at school.
Basic Guidelines For Making the ST-CT Relationship Work • Make a good first impression. • Be respectful. You are a GUEST. • Do your homework and research. • Don’t be afraid to ask questions. • When you are ready, take on more responsibility. • Don’t be afraid to try something new with your CT’s help and advice. • Give the relationship time and space. • If the relationship seems to be going sour, ask your supervisor to assist you.
How to keep from stepping on your CT’s toes • Don’t reinvent the wheel. Its not time to save the world. • Be thorough and specific with your lesson plans • Take initiative— but get permission • Be consistent • Make reasonable modifications • Be a team player • Work WITH your CT • ASK for feedback

Atlanta, Henry, Douglas, Newnan will be Saturday, • August 9th with the time TBA • Macon/Eastman is planned for Friday, August 22nd. • Again, information will be sent regarding the time via List Serve.
