Hmwk: Vocabulary Definitions Write each word, its pronunciation, its part of speech (POS), and at leastone denotation (dictionary definition). Set #1: • acme (ak-mee): n. the highest point; summit; peak. • aesthetic (es-thet-ik): adj. 1. pertaining to a sense of the beautiful. 2. having a sense of the beautiful; characterized by a love of beauty.
How are the “Vocab. Defs.” graded? • Each set has ten words. There are 16 sets. Every twocompletesets will earn 20 pts. • #1/2, #3/4, #5/6, #7/8, #9/10, #11/12, #13/14, & #15/16 • Complete sets means all 20 words are written and include: pronunciation, part of speech, and at least one denotation (dictionary definition). • Set #1/2 = 20 words = 20 pts. (full-credit) • Every two complete sets that are submitted before the due date earns EWS extra credit (ten points). • Set #1/2 = 30 pts. (earned) /20 pts. (possible) • ALL Vocab. Defs. Must be completed in the back half of the comp.ntbk. in order to receive full/extra credit.
