What is this all about? • Ausbel Theory of Meaningful Learning • (1918–2008) was an American psychologist born in New York • His most significant contribution to the fields of Educational Psychology, cognitive science, and science education learning • Ausubel was influenced by the teachings of Jean Piaget. 1896 –1980) was a French-speaking Swiss who developed the Cognitivist (learning theory) which is the theory that humans generate knowledge and meaning through sequential development of an individual’s cognitive abilities, such the mental processes of recognize, recall, analyze, reflect, apply, create, understand, and evaluate
