PreAP and AP Courses • PreAP course work prepares students for the AP program. • AP stands for Advanced Placement. • AP are College Level courses. • College credit is possible. • PreAP receives 10% weight and AP Courses receive 15% weight.

Dual Credit Continued • Attend Dual Credit Meeting to receive paperwork, transcript, and testing time. • Apply – Registration is in April • (TSI) college placement test • Register at Weatherford College • Pay at Weatherford College
Dual Enrollment courses taught by Aledo High School teachers, trained and certified to teach OnRamps courses • Throughout entirety of course, OnRamps students complete series of required assignments designated by instructor at the University of Texas • OnRamps students who successfully complete high school version of course receive credit from Aledo High school; OnRamps students who successfully compete the series of required assignments from UT instructor will received either three (Precalculus) or six (U.S.History) Texas Common Core credits from UT Austin • The college credits are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas • *Not all courses are part of every degree plan. Your college or university may apply some credits as electives if the class you take is not part of your degree plan
What OnRamps courses will be available? • DISCOVERY PRECALCULUS: Texas TCN = MATH 2312 (3 college credits) • Yearlong course equal to HS Precalculus • UNITED STATES, 1492-1865: Texas TCN = HIST 1301 (3 college credits) • UNITED STATES, 1865 – PRESENT: Texas TCN = HIST 1302 (3 college credits) • Combined yearlong courses equal to HS US History
Details • No entrance requirements (aside from prerequisite high school courses) • No costs • OnRamps student opt to accept or decline college credit at conclusion of course • OnRamps grades will not factor into GPA calculation (same as dual credit)
There are only 24 hours in a day!!! Balance your life! You may need some down time, so you may have to pick and choose.
Highlights of Sophomore Year • Take the PSAT in October. • Meet with counselor to go over student 4 Year Plan and courses that line up with endorsement and any postsecondary plans. • Research colleges, careers, etc.
Highlights of Junior Year • Take the PSAT in October. • Take SAT/ACT’s spring/summer . • Have Individual Junior Conference with counselor (college application process and postsecondary plans.) • Research colleges, careers, etc.
Highlights of Senior Year • Continue Research College & Career • Apply to colleges & universities • Financial Aid • Scholarships
