ACT Summing up • Installed on basis of the MS Sharepoint Portal Server at the start of the project • Document management and collaboration features for participating organizations (55 organizations, ~230 participants) • User survey in 2005 –feedback led to minor improvements • Running stable and performing its task

  3. Main Tasks • Recording the main ACT performance indicators • Maintaining the ACT • Supporting Users • Structuring and mapping the SARNET contents • Setting up and maintaining the SARNET Public Website (http://www.sar-net.org)

  4. ACT Performance Indicators • Monthly record of • #documents, #items, #users accesses, #different users

  5. Maintenance • Hard- and software maintenance • Regular server upgrades, particularly w.r.t. security • Automatic daily backups • Registration of new users • Continous operation: No problems up to now

  6. User Support • Support requests have strongly decreased compared to the initial phase • Platforms such as Sharepoint have grown generally more common • Sometimes requested by topic and work package leaders • Feedback from users: Navigation should be improved

  7. Structuring and Mapping Sarnet Contents • Most users know „their“ topic • Little familiarity with other ones (seldom needed) • As the project approaches its end • Summary view of the projects main achievements desirable • This might be a view which is later opened to the public • Navigation help

A „Knowledge Map“ would fulfil theses requirements • „Knowledge Representation“ gives methods and tools • A method has been chosen without too much formalism • Tool: CMapTools from the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) • Very easy to learn and handle • Freely available on the internet • Draft maps up to now: • Main Topics as entry point • ASTEC map • CORIUM map

The Public Web Site • http://www.sar-net.org • The site has been redesigned • Cleaner and more informative home page • SARNET Review Recommendation: • Main documents and achievements should be available on the public web site • Particularly, overall survey of project results towards the end of the project

  10. Conclusion • ACT is well established as • Platform for SARNET document and information management • Collaboration platform • Continuous and stable utilization • Efforts to improve structuring of ACT contents are under way • Public web site to be enhanced with documents and results
