  3. Sustainability Task Forces • In October 2008, two task forces on were formed • Faculty • Operations

  4. Faculty Task Force on Sustainability

  5. Faculty Task Force Over 50 faculty involved Meeting every 3-4 weeks

  6. Faculty Task Force • 2008-2009 objectives were to determine: • What is currently being done on campus • What the impact of the university should be on the region • How to synergize faculty activities • The support needed to encourage more faculty activities in the area of sustainability

  7. Faculty Task Force • 2009-2010 objectives are to: • Work in conjunction with the operations task force • Write an action plan for the University

  8. Survey of Faculty • Conducted in spring 2009 • 133 faculty participated

  9. Faculty interest in sustainability with regards to their teaching, scholarly and service activities

  31. Things Going On Now! • LRTS switched to default back to back printing in January of 2009 • In six months SCSU saved 406,530 sheets of paper

  32. Things Going On Now! • The Husky Fried Ride • Approximately 1,200 gallons of recycled vegetable oil were reclaimed and used as fuel • The vehicle operated flawlessly through the coldest of winter

  33. Things Going On Now! • “Trayless” days at Garvey Commons has saved ~430 gallons of water and 800 pounds of food waste PER DAY • Garvey’s flavored tap water with fruit infusion to reduced bottle water • All solid food waste at Garvey is recycled through an animal feed program

  35. Things Going On Now! • The university has started to recycle at public events from all sporting events to the Lemonade Arts and Crafts Fair
