Overload “…fitness can only be improved through training more than you normally do” You are stressing the body past its limits. If you do not stress the body then you will never improve
Progression “start slowly and gradually increase the amount of exercise you do” You cannot train by running 1 mile a week and suddenly increase that to 5 miles.Your body will not be able to cope
Specificity “…you must do specific kinds of activity or exercise to build body parts” Give reasons why…
Reversibility • If you stop training then fitness gains are lost. • You can lose a years fitness gains in 4 weeks
Individual needs • A training programme needs to be specific to the individual • One persons programme may not be suitable for someone else • Why? • Age • Fitness • Injury
