Rock Paper Scissors • Michelle Dinh and Kevin Nguyen Topic: Michelle and Kevin found a study that determined when playing Rock Paper Scissors in one trial, selecting each was equally likely. They then had students play one trial of Rock Paper Scissors, recorded the data and using a Chi-Square Independence to compare male and female preferences of Rock Paper Scissors Conclusion: Preference of Rock Paper Scissors was independent of gender.
Is it raining cats or dogs at OCSA? • Kat Garcia • Topic: Kat Garcia wanted to determine which pet (dog or cat) OCSA students and OCSA teachers preferred. • She compared the proportion of students and teachers that preferred dogs over cats using a 2 sample z-test. • Conclusion: The proportion at which OCSA students and teacher prefer dogs to cats is about the same.
OCSA’s Opinion on Operating System Windows 8 • Alan Ong and Christopher Liu • Topic: They compared how OCSA students rate Windows on a scale of 1 – 5 and compared the ratings on Amazon.com. • Conclusion: Using a Chi-Square Goodness of Fit test OCSA students prefer Windows 8 significantly less than what is reported on Amazon.com.
