Surveys & Interviews Some things we learned about how other's view Austin: (We included people from Austin's past and present that were involved in his future planning.) • Austin takes directions very well • Austin follows through with all tasks assigned • Austin is successful with written task lists and schedules • Austin is very good at drawing and design • Austin focuses on the task at hand and is determined to complete it • Austin does need extra time to complete tasks with precision
ICIE Observations Dates, locations, and overview of ICIE observations: • 12/11/12 Print Shop - Austin was engaged in task upon initial instruction only and socialized appropriately in this small setting. • 01-11-2013 McDonalds- Austin walked to a local McDonalds with several peers in the classroom. He seemed to enjoy this independent activity and sat with two other peers. • 2/13/2013 Art Activity- Austin created some Valentine cards for the Vet's Hospital. He was very engaged in this activity ensuring that the card look perfect. He really took his time and was very creative. • 2/26/13 Staples - Austin participated in a familiar task of making a booklet with good attention to details of task in unfamiliar environment of public store. • 03/06/2013 YMCA- Austin was working with another student for his work based learning placement. He took the lead and was very patient helping the other student opening her locker.
Home Visit 3/05/2013 • Austin has a strong family support system. • He has a close relationship with his grandfather and cousins. • He enjoys playing the piano, computers, artwork, going to Hooters, and playing video games. • He lives in the city and has access to public transportation. He currently uses the Bay Metro system to get to school.
Vocational Profile • Interests: Austin really enjoys completing arts/crafts type activities. He is motivated when engaging in office tasks, as well, and has been successful with printing, cutting, copying among many other print shop activities. • Skills: Austin is able to complete tasks independently once routine is understood. He is a hard worker and very thorough in completing tasks accurately. He has good skills with social communication and enjoys interacting with others. • Experiences: Austin has participated in work based learning environments through the Post Secondary program that he attends. He also participates in family activities that encourage socialization and skill acquisition.
AUSTIN WHITE Austin is a 19 year old who loves art and is looking for a careerin the field of graphic arts. His life long goal is to become a video game programmer. .
Becoming Independent… Austin is currently attending the Bay-Arenac Post Secondary Program to learn daily living and vocational skills.
