  3. Design studio 3 • Design a digital desk, cubicle, and wall for software developers • This is to be a new product in an office furniture companies’ product line • Given the enormous software development industry, they want to specifically target software developers

  4. Design studio 3 • The company wants a design of the furniture (integration of technology with furniture) • The company wants a design of the software • application design • interaction design • architecture design • The company wants this to be feasible, and integrate well with existing software development environments • The company wants it to provide a cutting edge experience that builds on novel yet useful functionality

  5. Design studio 3 – homework • Work through all cards in each category • you may respond “not applicable” to some • you should use your network! • Bring two copies of each sheet, bundled together • they have to be legible • Bring back the box of envisioning cards • in its original shape • with all cards • Bring your laptops

Design studio 3 – homework • For each of the five questions (and others as you like), provide three findings that you think will influence your design • what does the future of furniture look like? • what does the future of display technology look like? • what does a software developer’s physical work environment look like? • what tasks do software developers engage in? • what software components could you use? • Describe the findings, where you found them, and why you think they will influence your design
