Purpose • Mount Calvary seeks to provide more ministry opportunities to our community • We want to understand the “needs” of the community • Our efforts will be driven by data • Data will determine which of the possibilities we pursue
Method • The survey was developed by our Outreach Team • Volunteers were trained in how to conduct the survey • Surveys were conducted on two Saturdays by Outreach Team and volunteers. • Responses classified by a committee through a consensus process and coded by this committee. • Data represents 23% of the households and is a relatively statistically significant sample
Those Involved • Pastor: Thomas Eggebrecht • Mt. Calvary Outreach Team: • Janet Abts • Allen Neuwirth • Ellen Sohn • Chris Williams • Volunteers: (10 - 14)
The 1st Focus Area The 22 Square Blocks Surrounding the Church
Q1: What do you think is the greatest need in our community?
Q2: Who do you see trying to meet these needs, and what are they doing?
Q3: Mount Calvary is considering ways to better serve our neighborhood. Do you have any suggestions?
Q4: Are you involved in community efforts here in our neighborhood? Do you want to be a part of future efforts? In what ways?
Q5: Have you visited Mount Calvary on a Sunday? What did you think? Is there a reason why you have not visited us?
Next Steps • Share the data with our congregation • Share the info with the community • Digest results of our recently completed communications audit • Implement a social media strategy that includes the community • Hire an outreach/youth coordinator
