Two kinds of verbs • a transitive verb takes an object (vt + obj) eg. He won the match She broke the cup. • an intransitive verb does not take an object eg. arrive, wait Tell me when hearrived. If there is an object after the intransitive verb, we put a preposition after it. (vi + prep + obj) arrived atthe ferry pier () (object)
