7th GRADE MATH MRS. RODRIGUEZ
Course Description • “And do everything in a decent and orderly manner.” 1 Corinthians 14:40 • Students will learn that mathematics is not an invention of man, but of God. • Fundamentals of Math (2nd edition) covers concepts such as whole numbers, decimals, number theory, fractions, and an introduction to algebra and geometry. • Each chapter contains "Dominion thru Math" exercises that apply mathematics to everyday life, "Mind over Math" and "Problem Solving" sections that promote critical thinking skills, and a chapter review section.
Materialsrequired daily for class are: • Notebook and dividers, lined notebook paper (8 ½ x 11 inches), and pencil with an eraser. NOTE-Pen or erasable pen is not acceptable for math class. • A red pen or pencil. • Each student will receive a textbook. Books MUST be covered and brought to class daily. • Fundamentals of Math (2nd ed.). BJU • Students will be marked “unprepared” if they do not have these materials each day.
Homework—POSTED EACH WEEK ON: libertychristianredding.com
7thGrade math homework • Homework will be given each class period to reinforce the lesson taught that day. • It should take about thirty minutes to complete. • It is to be done neatly in pencil only. • Given that math is a subject that builds from one day to the next, late homework will not be accepted for credit unless a ‘Late-work pass’ accompanies it. • Students may earn a Late-work pass by completing ten homework assignments in a row, which earn a score of 10 (see “Grading” below). • Late-work passes may also be used to improve a student’s test score on tests.
Absentee Make-Up Policy • Students who miss school because of illness can have their guardian call the school and request assignment information. • If you know that you will be missing school because of some other reason, please let me know ahead of time so that I can get the work together for you. • Students going on a family trip must notify the school no later than one week before the trip, or it will be recorded as an unexcused absence. • The number of days absent determines when the make-up work is due. (Example—absent 2 days—homework is due two days after returning back to school). • All make-up work must be turned in before the student takes the chapter test. No absent work will be accepted after the test is taken.
Grading • Students will receive 10 points for every homework assignment that is completed properly (i.e., neatly done in pencil with all work shown as done in the example and answers circled). • Quizzes will be worth 20 points each. Tests are worth 100 points each. • The student’s grade is a percentage based on points earned divided by points possible. • Long term projects points will vary therefore will be announced at the time that they are assigned. • Ask me about “Engrade”!
