Interactive Remotes:Selection Criteria • Qwizdom, eInstruction, SmartRoom, etc. • User-friendly software/hardware? • Cross-platform (PC and Mac)? • Reliable, with company support/upgrades • Radio Frequency (RF) vs Infrared (IR) • Sophisticated software for grading, generating reports, interactive capacity • Didn’t require students to enroll online • Easily transferable to multiple courses • Affordability

Qwizdom: The Basics • Separate student and instructor remotes (RF) • Syncs with computer through USB receiver • Two software packages • Interact (stand-alone program) • Actionpoint (plug-in within MS Powerpoint) • Allows for the following activities: • Attendance • Surveys and Quizzes (with up to 8 question types) • Exams (with multiple and simultaneous versions) • Embedded PPT activities/questions/surveys (with on-screen results) • “On the fly” questions (with on-screen results) • Learning Games (Jeopardy, Millionaire, Baseball)

  5. Student Remote • The durable Q4 has a large LCD screen which displays information such as answer choices, answer confirmation, battery life, and even instant right/wrong feedback. The remote supports 8 different question types.

  6. Instructor Remote • Navigate between presentation slides, pause and play media, and pose a new question on-the-fly, all with Qwizdom’s Q5RF Teacher Remote. For ongoing discussions, simply press the "pick" button and randomly select a student to verbally join the debate.
