General Information • James Fortune was born and raised in Richmond, Texas. He started his musical talent at age 5 when he started playing the drums. In 1998, he formed his own community gospel choir called YFC. YFC means Youth for Christ. James Fortune also ministered at youth conferences, churches, and community events .

FIYA James Fortune later changed the name of the group to FIYA. FIYA stands for Free Yahweh In Abundance. It was derived form the scripture John 10:10.

Albums James Fortune & FIYA only had a few albums: You Survived, Transformation, and Encore. The album “You Survived” was released in September 2004. This album touched the hearts of many people. February 2008, the album Transformation was released.
