SDW / SDM Purpose: • Provide a single point of delivery of official soil survey data & information for • NRCS eFOTG • SSURGO • Customer Service Toolkit/Soil Data Viewer • Technical Service Providers • General public • Computer Models • Provide national coverage
SDW / SDM Content: • Tabular data (soil chemical & physical data; interpretations) • Digitized spatial data (SSURGO) • soil polygons; soil survey area boundaries • Federal Geographic Data Committee compliant metadata file • Data available for partial Soil Survey Area (SSA) or whole SSA • Data certified by Alabama State Soil Scientist
Function ofSoil Data Warehouse • Houses current and archived versions of official data (tabular & spatial) • State Office use only
Function ofSoil Data Mart • Provides access to only the “current” version of official data • Web accessible • Linked to eFOTG (by 12/31/04)
Features of Soil Data Mart • Generate standard reports • Choose selected map units, or whole SSA • Download spatial and/or tabular data via ftp • Download MS Access database template for tabular data • national or state-specific
SDW / SDM Timeline: • Re-certify existing SSURGO • Load remaining SSA data • Link eFOTG Sec. II to SDM By 12/31/04
Notification of Posting to SDM: • FO, RSS, MLRA-PL will be notified by letter when tabular/spatial data is posted to SDM • “Subscribe” at SDM to be notified of updates
