Broad Concept Structure • As per RIMPAC 2012 • 2 x CTG’s • USN retains CTF 172, Aus/Can D/CTF Objectives • Improve individual tactical skills • Conduct theatre level collective training • Refine new capabilities (P-8) • Live Fire opportunity Capabilities • ASW, ASUW, ISR (no BAMS)
Desired Participation Continued participation from: • USN (incl LSRS), Canada, Korea, Japan, AUS, New Zealand P-3 • P-8 • Canadian deployable mission support center • MTOC
2012 Lessons Learned and Action Plan • Specific MPRA capabilities not well understood • Provide coalition MPRA caps/lims brief • Better OPFOR coordination required • CTF 178 LNO? • Establish robust tasking process for OPFOR MPRA • Program & Protect no-fly day between SOE/FIT • *SAFETY* - ASC worked poorly • Retain HULA DANCER or RED CROWN/ACU, or • More emphasis required on ASC duties
Expected Planning Challenges • Expansion: Ramp space LIMFAC • 29 aircraft in 21 parking spaces • TAD Funding? • No locally based reservists • ~70% of LNO’s, staff are augmentees
