CBA Midterm Workshop

This workshop discusses the effects of climate change on Guatemala's watersheds, focusing on erosion, flooding, and drought risks. It introduces the Almanario tool to engage communities in conservation efforts. Various proposals and concepts related to watershed management are presented for discussion and action. The Almanario aims to facilitate gender-inclusive, community-driven decision-making and planning for environmental conservation.

  2. Increased the Temperature (when start wet season) and Extreme low in dry season Increased rain intensive events by erratic way Mixed both factors it is generating more evapotranspiration SGP Guatemala Region Climate Effects

  3. Climate Change Risks in Guatemala Erosions and flooding generates dougth around the middle of the watershed specialty in dry season Intensive of the rain, soil coberture is not grown and it could be susceptible to frozen in highlands of watershed. It stress the feed security and fenology of the ecosystems Rain seasson in down lands of the watershed its flooding affecting coast and marines ecosystems Actualmente todas las cuencas se encuentras en riesgo a causa de los eventos extremos a lo largo del año

  4. Adicionalidad desde la Línea Base planteada Agriculture: • Delays in rain season • Increasing frequency or intensity of the doughts • Increasing frequency or intensity of floodings • Increasing intensity of huracanes and tropical storms in erratic way • Increasing frequency of dry periods between or inside the rain season (canícula o veranillos) Hydric Resourses Evapotranspiración increased Erosión increased by incremento of tropical storms and rain intensity Fenología species ecosystem are changing by water stressing Focal Areas • Land Degradation y • Biodiversity

  5. Avances en CBA We have two formal proposals to be discussed by NSC Comité de Microcuenca del Río Tojguech: parte alta de la cuenca Comité de Microregión del Río Suchiate: parte baja de la cuenca One concept note to be discussed after Jamaica Meeting Comité de Microcuenca del Río Tojcheche: parte alta de cuenca

  9. Almanario Almanario uses the logic frame theory and try to become easy to use by Communities We are using as a gender tool, there is a condition that CBO organization includes at least 50% of women as members

  10. Almanario As a brain stroming, almanario try to guide the community ideas Easy guide to be discussed inside of the community Definition of the goals analysing their own environmental issues Its necessary present records of the CBO meetings

  11. Almanario Easy questions to be discussed by CBO trying to introduce in VRA Putting in “positive” their environmental issues, Almanario gets quality information that will be used in a VRA after

  12. Almanario Scheduling putting month Adding activities to achieve outcomes Ammounting each activity Adding or accounting the cofinance M&E information from CBO Planning activities for one year
