Casteel Football 2019 Spring Parent Meeting

Join us for the Casteel Football 2019 Spring Parent Meeting and learn about the identity of our football program, expectations for players and parents, and the support needed for a successful football program. We will introduce the head coaches, athletic administration, and football operations. Vision & Mission • Vision • A program that champions the development of the student athlete • Mission Statement • To be a disciplined, hardworking, competitive team that strives for excellence, exudes confidence in our values, and expresses passion in service to our community • Coaching Focus • To create an environment where academic and athletic excellence are experienced at a high level.

  8. Values & Expectations • Values • Respect • Discipline • Hard Work • Expectations • To make Championship Choices- These are the hard choices that may require some sacrifices. These are choices that are above and beyond day-to-day decisions to go against what is popular and cool among peers and to focus on the path of great success.

Locker Room / Discipline • No Hazing Policy (AIA, CUSD, School Level and Program) • No Bullying • Doesn’t matter how small or big – Zero Tolerance Policy • Locker Room Culture • Knowing the athletes (relationships) • Open Door Policy • All athletes are issued a lock • Discipline (if an athlete can’t discipline oneself then a coach must) • Situational Discipline (Isolated or Team) • We can all learn from an isolated incidence • Example: why did Mitchel have to run for Johnny’s mistake? The answer: Mitchel may think twice now if ever put in that same position.

Accountability – Player & Coaches Coach’s Discretion • Coach/Player Communication • Ex: 1on1 conversation • Peer Support • Team Captains, Seniors • Film Study • Grading Plays, Technique • Conditioning • Physical & Mental • Communicate with Parents • Position; Depth Chart • Playing Time • Team Membership • Removal from all team activities

Team Before Self • The Team must come before the individual • The coaching staff will objectively assess each player’s ability within the context of our team to place our team in the best position to be successful as a whole and to put your son in what we believe is the best position(s) for him to blossom. • Position/Play Time Concerns/etc. • If your son would like to play a specific position or is concerned about anything involving game and team strategy, playing time, touches of the football, etc. • Parents...DO NOT come to any coach about this, but have your son MAN-UP and bring his concern(s) to coach directly.

  13. Best Way to Approach Coach • “Coach, what can I work on to help my team be more successful?” • “Coach, what can I work on to get better at ___________ so I can earn a spot on ___________?” • “What positions do you think I can help my team the most?”

Offseason Training • Football Academy (Weights, Conditioning, & Classroom) • Strength Coach: Chris Musselman Email: musselman.chris@cusd80.com • 1st Hr. – Sr./Jr (12th/11th) • 2nd Hr. – 8th Graders • 3rd Hr. – Soph (10th) • 4thHr. – Fresh (9th) • Spring Football - • Navy shorts, white shirt, white socks • Casteel or plain gear only: Do Not Wear gear from other schools • Explosive Speed & Power Camp • 7on7/Big Man Tournaments • End of May through end of June • Communications will be sent out

Spring & Fall Practices • Colt Time – 2:30-3:15 PM • Time for players to get caught up on work & follow up with teachers • We will monitor missing assignments & grades • JV/Varsity Practices – 3:30-5:45 PM • Spring May 6th – May 18th • Freshmen - 3:45-5:45 PM • Spring April 29th – May 18th • Fall Football Begins • July 22nd

Fundraising • Sponsorships - Companies and individuals can purchase advertising space in stadium, scoreboard or media guide. • TaxCredits - Up to $200 individual and up to $400 for married couples filing jointly can be claimed on personal income taxes. • Donations - Any individual can give money to support the program. • Events - Cow Chip Bingo, Discount cards, car washes, others to be determined. • Concessions – During our football games (home and visitor sides). We Need all Parents Involved • Merchandising- Sales from spirit wear and other products designed and sold on behalf of the team
