Making an Eco-column. This presentation demonstrates the steps for setting up an eco-column. 1. Cut bottom off of 2 liter bottle. Place screen over opening and secure with rubber band. Pour 1 cup of gravel in bottom of terrarium. Pour 2 cups of potting soil over gravel.

Making an Eco-column This presentation demonstrates the steps for setting up an eco-column.
Place screen over opening and secure with rubber band. • Pour 1 cup of gravel in bottom of terrarium. • Pour 2 cups of potting soil over gravel.
Divide soil into 4 sections. • Place rock, twigs, and dead leaf matter in one section. • Plant grass seeds, mustard seeds, and alfalfa seeds • into other 3 sections.
Cut top section off of second 2 liter bottle • to make aquarium.
Add 2 cups of gravel to bottom of aquarium. • Add drinking water to aquarium, • fill up to 5 cm from top of aquarium.
Plant elodea in bottom of aquarium. • Add duckweed and algae to water.
You are ready to add the animals to both environments, as directed in lesson plan.
