8th Month - Baby 28th week – settling into proper position for birth (head facing downward), blinking, possibly dreaming 29th week – close to birth length (~17 in) but will need to almost triple weight 30th week – can regulate own body temperature, start shedding lanugo
8thMonth, continued 31st week – processing information, tracking light, perceiving signals from all 5 senses 32nd week • Practicing skills (sucking thumb, swallowing, kicking), less transparent as more fat is added End Results: 19 inches long, almost 4 pounds
8th Month - Mother • Sciatica • sharp shooting pain, tingling, or numbness starting in your butt and radiating down the backs of your legs • Heartburn • Hard time breathing (cramped diaphragm) • Stronger fetal activity • Should feel movements every day • Especially after snack or laying down • Braxton Hicks • Practice contractions (stop if change position) • Varicose Veins • Swollen blood vessels
9th Month - Baby Week 33 – amniotic fluid maxed out (sharp kicks), antibodies being passed to fetus Week 34 – vernix is getting thicker, testicles get to scrotum Week 35 – lots of brain development Week 36 – soft bones and cartilage End Results – 20 inches and about 6 pounds

10th Month - Baby Week 37 – considered full-term, still packing one a half pound a week, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (practicing w/lungs) Week 38 – shedding vernix and lanugo, producing more surfactant (substance prevents the air sacs from sticking to one another when starts to breathe, adding fat, fine-tuning brain Week 39 – pink skin now turns whitish, head drops in pelvix Week 40 – mom still providing antibodies fetus will need to fight off infections for first 6 months End Results: between 6-9 pounds, and measure 19-22 inches, bones of skull haven’t fused yet
10th Month – Mother • Cervix will dilate (open up) and efface (get thinner) but you won’t feel it • Bloody Show • Pink or brown mucus discharge • Blood vessels in cervix are rupturing as cervix dilates • Nipples popping • Diarrhea • Water breaking
Conclusion: 3rd Trimester • Get even bigger • All five senses working • Decreased as activity as gets bigger • Bottoms-up • BIRTH!
