  2. TxTTV • TxTTV is an easy to use, html based, teletext viewer with relatively advanced features

  3. BACKGROUND • Sole purpose teletext viewer • Read news • Add bookmarks • Add notifications (Page – Alarm) • High usability • Hyperlinks inside content

  6. The GOOD • It is working! Working application! Hurrah! • Most prioritized • Does most of what we intented it to do • Browse pages • Use database • Has a GUI • Learned basic android

  7. The BAD • Problems with YLE • Umlauts, we solved it with our own php – parser • Nested pages, YLE doesn’t provide standart procedure informing nested page count. Our own php – parser finds out the information • We rejected some of the functionalities • Content database doesn’t store offline data, because it may create problems with synchronization. TxTTV became Internet– dependant application

  8. And the UGLY • Eclipse • Good system, lots of things in reasonably understandable system • Android development • Google has bad example codes • Documentation problems • Emulator • Works as intented • Slow to start

CONCLUSION • INTENTED AND MET GOALS • working and bug-free, at least nothing “force kill”-seriousness, teletext client for YLE • as much functionality as possible • 5 days, no previous Java or Android experience • Hack & Fix, turned out to be very effective • This was fun! Thank you all, Notkeat Joutsenet have concluded their journey into World of Android.
