Voluntary Action Rutland: Access to IT A 10 week Free Computer Drop-in Pilot Pilot to provide basic skills to help people access computers and online support aimed at: • People with computers who need a bit of extra support • People without computers who need access to online services VAR is working with a number of local organisations to develop projects looking at access and support across the county including: • Rutland Adult Learning • Age UK Leics and Rutland • Citizens Advice Bureau • Spire Homes • Job Centre Plus The pilot will run from 30 January to 3 April. Voluntary Action Rutland Social Transport Scheme A transport service that supports frail, elderly, vulnerable & disabled people in Rutland Providing a social car scheme delivered by volunteer drivers using their own vehicles, two community buses, a wheelchair-accessible car and an MPV that can be hired out. 2012/13 18,311 journeys, travelling a total of 208,095 miles were undertaken to support Rutland residents 2,279registered clients 50registered volunteer drivers 7 office volunteers who co-ordinate a list of requests amounting to 200drives per week (on average) Seeking volunteer drivers contact Jim Freeborough on 01572 724705
