Overview of the new phase of Barbara Mascialino July 26th 2004 Barbara Mascialino
Introduction • First Phase already completed • Last March 19th started the Second Phase. Its aim is to bring the requirements resulting from the General Study into an operative phase, developing a software system to fulfil them. Barbara Mascialino
The simulation tool will be useful for space applications: - astronauts radioprotection, - airlines pilots radioprotection, - human presence in the space. HUMEX a study on the survivability and adaptation of humans to long-duration exploratory missions Barbara Mascialino
Manyfold applications The outcome of the project would be relevant also for: • biological experiments • radiotherapy • radiobiology • physics (micro and nano-dosimetric studies) • technology transferfrom the space environment to the society Barbara Mascialino
Study plan • 1: study of the project environment • 2: creation of a application prototype • 3: development of the prototype and related components into an articulated application aimed at modelising the radiation effects atcellularandDNAlevels. Barbara Mascialino
SPIRAL APPROACH Software process guidelines • United Software Development Process • practical guidance and tools from theRUP • mapping onto ISO 15504 • Incremental and iterative life cycle model The software will be devolped through a series of iterations, each one visiting all the main software disciplines Barbara Mascialino
Deliverables ESA PSS-05 software development standard: - User Requirement Document - Software Specification Document - Software User Manual - Software Validation and Verification Plan Barbara Mascialino
