The Force of Gravity Gravity acts between everything in the Universe. Earth's gravity pulls everything downward. Without it, everything on our planet would float away. Have seen images of astronauts walking on the Moon?? The Moon has less mass/weight than Earth, so the force of gravity there is much weaker. That is why astronauts can jump far and high, but they will not float off the surface -- because the Moon's gravity still pulls them back down. On Earth, we cannot jump as high because our planet's force of gravity is much stronger.
