Report Purpose • Create an educated understanding of breast cancer on campus • Greater awareness and outreach will increase financial support • Students • Family and friends of students • Rethink awareness strategy • Enhance, innovate, and refresh promotion
Student Organization Introduction • Attend a Student Organization Registration Meeting offered weekly in the Student Union Building. • Contact the Student Union and Activities at 742-3636, or visit the office located in Room 203 of the Student Union Building. For up-to-date meeting times. • Complete the online application part of the registration process, four separate pages of information will be required. • Link to register http://www.so.ttu.edu/StudentOrgApps.php • Fill out registration packet and turn in to Room 203 in the SUB.
Guidelines • Have an Advisor who is a Texas Tech Faculty. • Have at least 3 members. • Must list all members. • List National Affiliations. • Write and submit a constitution. • Advisor very important in keeping records and bank account information. • Can have a secondary advisor. • Good to have web master for Tech website and organization website.
Student Organization Resources • Free 100 megs website. • Free Mailbox on campus. • Free campus postings in over 30 locations at Tech. • Use of laminating, printing, office supplies, and other equipment on second floor of Student Union Building. • Post on Tech Announce Email. • Financial Support through university and members.
Financial Support • One time use of Cocoa Cola Funding. • Each organization can apply for a financial budget. • Option for Membership fees. • Can have support from other institutions or organizations. • Must attend a financial meeting once a month.

Event Fundraising Fees that can help finance each event • Team registration fees $10-20 • Team shirt sales $15-25 Fundraising for the Susan G. Komen organization • Revenue gained from apparel • Donations
Advertising • Informative flyers could be passed out to gain student awareness • Handouts should be as follows: • Short and concise • Highlight information that is relevant and interesting to students (e.g. highlight Greek organizations involved) • Attractive format • These flyers could contain the following information: • Statistical facts • Symptoms to watch for • How to prevent breast cancer
“Imagine Life Without Breast Cancer” • Bracelets could be sold and distributed around campus • $.25 of every $1 is donated to research
Pink Out The Jones • Attempted with minimal success this football season • To be done more successfully Komen could • Decide further in advance of what game to hold the event on. • Hold the event on a bigger game • A concert could be held afterwards as done for the A&M game. • A purchase of a “Komen Shirt” doubles as your ticket into the concert.
Conclusion • Student body is approximately 10% of Lubbock, TX • Successful promotion will yield support • Sporting events • traditional advertisement • creation of a student organization • Additional financial support • Advances medical research • Improves quality of life for those suffering from breast cancer
