KEEP—What it is! • Evaluation Protocol model designed to assess performance and FACILITATE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH to increase student learning • Meets the requirements of the Flexibility Waiver • Structured set of protocols and processes fostering evaluator/evaluatee collaboration and goal setting
KEEP—what it isn’t • Working feverishly to finish those evals on times • A set of personally defined evaluator indicators and protocols that change from evaluator to evaluator • A summative document with little or no formative component
What KEEP really is…. Whatever you make it to be!
Constructs • Learner and Learning 1.1 Learner Development • Note the 4 performance levels and look for key words in those descriptors • One of the tasks for our district will be developing a shared understanding of what these key words mean. (Inter-rater Reliability) • Note some of the sources of evidence for this rubric
Highly Effective Ineffective Developing Effective Content of the KEEP Rubrics Look across each row of the rubric and see what words are used to describe Ineffective, Developing, Effective, and Highly Effective. Compare these words to the Categories that they describe. 1.1 Learner Development: The teacher planned instruction based on the learning and developmental levels of all students Sources of Evidence for Planning Instruction Based on the Learning and Developmental Levels of All Students • Differentiated lesson plans • Student work sample • Assessment data • Teacher reflection
Process • Evaluation Process for teachers in first or second year in a district --Still evaluated twice with the summary rating completed by the 60th day of the semester • Evaluation process for teachers in years 3 and 4 in a district --Once each year
KEEP Repository Two Processes Need to Be Completed to Use the KEEP Repository • Districts complete a sequence of steps to set up evaluation roles and gain access to the Repository • Authenticated Application through KSDE

KEEP Repository District Completes • Within EDCS: • Step 1: Complete profile and assignment data • Step 2: Set evaluation roles—July 01 • Step 3: Submit evaluation roles
KEEP Repository Step 1: Profile and Assignment Data—District Level • Authenticated Applications • EDCS • Staff Data • Find/Update Staff • Roll over, Import or Enter Individually • Enter Profile and Assignment data
KSDE User Registration Form Add Business Contact Info Select your User Name and Password - Write Them Down Where You Will Remember Them Select Your Organization and Building Add Info in Case You Forget Your User Name or Password
Email from KSDE Authentication Application • Your registration will be submitted your the District Superintendent for approval. • You will receive an email that states you are now registered. • Then you can use your username and password to access KEEP.
ACCESSING KEEP in Authenticated Applications at www.ksde.org • After you have received your KSDE User Name and Password APPROVAL email, you will be able to access the KSDE applications through one entry point, the Authenticated Applications Website Login.
KEEP Repository Educator Sign-up Accessing KEEP • KSDE Authenticated Applications • Register or Manage My Account • Choose KEEP – Educator Update • Both Educator ID and SSN# will be required for verification as final step • – no dashes in SSN
Using Your New Log-In to Access KEEP Type in your new User Name and Password Then click the Login Button
Managing Your Account to Add KEEP Once you are registered, you will see EDCS as a program that you have information in – Now click on Manage My Account to add KEEP.
Check KEEP and use the pull-down menu to select Educator Update
Educator Requirements for KEEP Repository Registration Look up your State Teacher ID # at the State License Look-up at https://svapp15586.ksde.org/TLL/SearchLicense.aspx
When KEEP Repository Registration is Complete You Will See KEEP listed in Your Web Applications Links
Accessing KEEP • You may use the same login and password • You do not need to request new access • KEEP is open – however, if you try to access KEEP before your district has completed their work in EDCS (assignments, evaluation roles, submitted to KEEP) you will not be able see your data • Educators must log into KEEP at least one time in order for all data to populate KEEP

Use of the KEEP Rubrics • When an educator selects one of the KEEP Constructs as a GOAL, how is the Goal used throughout Observations, the KEEP Repository, and Evaluation Documents? • Goals of the District can match one or more of the educator’s goals. • Educator may select an individual goal.

WAIVER - Principle 3: Supporting Effective Instruction and Leadership Implement teacher & principal evaluation & support systems will: • Use for continual improvement of instruction • Use at least 3 performance levels • Use multiple measures including student growth as significant factor • Evaluate on a regular basis • Provide clear, timely, and useful feedback • Use to inform personnel decisions
