General Information Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan Three main religions: Muslim 47%, Russian Orthodox 44%, Protestant 2%, (Other 7%) Two main languages: Russian (95%) (very popular since Russia overtook Kazakhstan in the 1700’s), and the official state language, Kazakh GDP: $11,400 Largest landlocked country

Caspian Sea Actually a lake! Roman’s found it salty, so the name Sea stuck. Largest lake in the world. Known for its plentiful amount of Sturgeon and the caviar produced from them. Caviar is a delicacy in the surrounding countries, and it is a pickled bunch of Sturgeon eggs. Oddly enough, many freshwater streams flow into this lake. (Sea)
History Two native tribes- Turkic and Mongol, but they didn’t consider themselves a country: no national identity. Russian took over in the 1700’s, and called it the Soviet Republic. In the mid 1900’s, an agricultural Government project and became very popular to the Soviet Citizens. In 1991, Kazakhstan gained Independence. Kazakhstan is in hope for finding a national identity
