  1. The Earth as an Egg-Benny’s Model

  2. Strengths? • Includes major layers-crust, mantle and core. • Includes movement of plates-plate tectonics. • Simple and easy to understand and relate to. (We all know what an egg looks like!)

  3. Weaknesses? • Doesn’t explain differences between inner and outer core. • Doesn’t identify the thickness, density, and temperature of each of the layers. • Doesn’t mention plate boundaries or what happens at boundaries. • Doesn’t help us understand Earthquakes and volcanoes in any real depth.

  4. So what else do we need to know to evaluate Benny’s model?? • Guided Reading Notes! • Use your textbook, work silently and independently. • If you finish early, please make sure your vocabulary is completed. • If that is done, make sure you have all of your data collected about the different world regions! • We will be talking about what you learn while completing your notes!
