Mission Statement • Christ the Healer is an ecumenical, mission program of the Archdiocese of New Orleans called to serve the people of Nicaragua. In the name of Jesus Christ, it aims to improve the quality of life and physical healing in a partnership of ministry. Employing a holistic approach to mission, it seeks to develop an appreciation for the people and culture of Nicaragua. Christ the Healer provides an opportunity to evangelize through the medical, dental, and social ministries as well as an opportunity to be evangelized through this same service from the people of Nicaragua.

Sample Budget for the Week • $100 Mission Fee (transportation rental) • Entrance Fee $5 • Hotel $40 single, $45 double $50 triple • Food $125 for the week • Taxi $1 per use • $100 for shopping is plenty
Personal Items to Bring Pack personal gear in a carry-on bag. Preferred dress is surgical scrubs- NI is hot and humid. Bring dress shorts, a swimsuit, and comfortable walking shoes. Pack at least one nice casual outfit for evening entertainment and for church services.

General Information • Hotel Room is reserved by PMS office in your name • Required Shots: tetanus • Dysentery: bring precautionary meds • Drink bottled water only • Laundry Service is available through hotel • Bring small bills for purchases. Dollars can be exchanged at the local bank • Hotel accepts all major credit cards • Patronize recommended restaurants only
Seven Day Mission Experience • You arrive in Managua at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport • Group is met by the Angel’s and Health Ministry • Luggage is loaded onto the rental bus • Depart for Granada by bus (approx.1 hour drive time) • Arrive at Hotel Alhambra and check in • Medicines for the mission are stored in the medicine room • Passports and tickets will be collected by the Trip Coordinator and stored in a safety deposit box for safe keeping • Orientation will be at 5 pm at the hotel
What to Bring? - Physicians • Physicians are advised to bring any and all medications they expect to prescribe. • Common cases: anemia, diabetes, fungal diseases, malnutrition, various forms of arthritis and other degenerative diseases, parasites, hypertension, anxiety, peptic ulcer disease, and infections of all kinds. Please bring medications appropriate for the treatment of such conditions. • See examples of the types of medications most commonly needed on next slide
