  2. Enrollment Process • At this time we are beginning the information phase of the enrollment process into the Research Center at SCHRI.

  3. Enrollment Period • Open Enrollment Period: Dec. 20 – Jan. 18 • Forum 1 – Monday, Nov. 26, 12 to 1 p.m. • Forum 2 – Wednesday, Dec. 19, 8 to 9 a.m. • Please take this time to learn about the different Research Centers and decide which Center is right for you.

  4. Center Selection • During this enrollment process you will be asked to select membership in only one center. • Enrollment will take place via an electronic form that will be sent to you at the beginning of the open enrollment period

  5. Why become a member of a Center? • SCHRI is organized into Centers with common thematic focus areas and identifiable core programs. • Centers administer grants and indirects.

  6. Membership Rights Levels • When you select a Center, you will be assigned a Privilege level within that center. • Your Privilege levels are dependant on: • your funding status OR • the proportion of your grants that are administered by that Center

  7. Primary Level Privileges • Membership with Primary Level Privileges requires: • Active extramurally funded grants/contracts within last 12-month period. • A Majority of all extramurally funded projects credited to the Center in which he/she is a Member. • Demonstration of a clear and substantial commitment to the Center by regularly participating in its scholarly activities.

  8. Primary Level Privileges • Primary Level Privileges come with the following benefits: • Eligibility for space assignment in the Primary Center (based on availability and the discretion of the Center Director). • Eligibility for Primary Center internal funding mechanisms, including bridge funding, gift funds, etc. • Access at special rates to Core Services operated by Primary Center. • Access to administrative support provided by the Primary Center. • Access to Institute sponsored educational seminars and written and electronic communications.

  9. Primary Level Privileges • Primary Level Privileges come with the following responsibilities: • Participation in scholarly activities of the Primary Center. • Acceptance of academic or administrative service to the Primary Center (i.e., committees, task forces, etc).

  10. Affiliate Level Privileges • Membership with Affiliate Level Privileges: • If you have NO extramurally funded projects credited to the Center then you will receive Affiliate Level Privileges. • Affiliate Level Privileges requires a demonstration of a clear and substantial commitment to the Center by regularly participating in its scholarly activities.

  11. Affiliate Level Privileges • Members with Affiliate Privileges receive: • Access to Research Institute rates to Core Services operated by the Affiliate Center. • Access to Institute sponsored educational seminars and written and electronic communications. • Other benefits as determined by the Center Director.

  12. Adjunct Level Privileges • In some instances, it may be advantageous to funded investigators to have membership in more than one center, based on the nature of their research. • Membership with Adjunct Level Privileges requires that one has Membership in another Center with Primary Level Privileges and the approval of all involved Center Directors.

  13. Adjunct Level Privileges • Membership with Adjunct Level Privileges will be allowed after the open enrollment period closes.

  14. Adjunct Level Privileges • Membership with Adjunct Level Privileges requires: • Membership in a Center with Primary Level Privileges • Active extramurally funded grants/contracts within last 12-month period. • A Minority of all extramurally funded projects credited to the Center in which he/she is a Member with Adjunct Level Privileges. • Demonstration of a clear and substantial commitment to the Center by regularly participating in its scholarly activities.

Adjunct Level Privileges • Membership with Adjunct Level Privileges comes with the following benefits: • Access at Adjunct rates to Core Services operated by Adjunct Center. • Access to Institute sponsored educational seminars and written and electronic communications. • Other benefits as determined by the Center Director.

  16. Center specific benefits • The Center Directors have decided that it is important to include Center Member input in the determination of benefits offered by each Center. Therefore, specific Center benefits will be determined only AFTER center membership has been defined. Center members will help determine what benefits a particular center offers.

  17. Scholars and Staff • Post-doctoral level scientists may become Scholar Members in the Centers in which their Mentor is a Member. • Staff are considered Staff Members of the Centers in which their Primary Investigator is a Member.

  18. Center for Neuroscience • The Center for Neuroscience will be soliciting Members in the near future. If your research is most relevant to the Center for Neuroscience and you are interested in obtaining Primary Level Privileges in this Center, then you should not select another Center for membership at this time. You are encouraged to wait until the new Center Director for Neuroscience is identified. The recruitment process for the Center Director is currently underway. If you have questions about the Center for Neuroscience then you should contact the Interim Director, Sidney Gospe, MD.

  20. Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development We will find new ways to promote health and development so that all children can reach their physical, intellectual and emotional potential. We will promote pediatric health care that is equitable, family-centered, safe and effective. We will work with families, communities, schools, providers and healthcare organizations to translate research findings into actions that improve the quality of children’s day to day lives. • Director: • Dimitri A. Center for Childhood Infections and Prematurity Research Through scientific discovery we will understand, prevent and treat pediatric infections, including infections during pregnancy that cause preterm birth.   22. Center for Clinical and Translational Research We will be the critical bridge to translate new scientific discoveries emerging from our laboratory science partners into novel therapeutic approaches that will potentially prevent or cure childhood diseases and improve functional outcomes.   24. Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies Keeping children healthy through the gift of immunity. Immunity influences almost every medical illness.
