House of Burgesses • As Jamestown grew, colonists wanted a say in their government. • There were now 11 different settlements that made up Jamestown • How will this impact the future of “America”? • In 1619, the Virginia Co allowed elections • From each settlements, 2 men would be chosen as the representatives. • This is called the House of Burgesses • This will be how colonial government will run until the mid 1700s.
