Although Oganoiodine compounds occur naturally on Earth’s crust but it occurs rarely. Therefore most of Organoiodine compounds are synthesized in labs.

Thallium acts as activators for Sodium Iodide, which in turn emits protons when they are subjected to ionizing-radiations. This process is used in nuclear physics, geophysics, and nuclear medicine as scintillation detectors.
