Sexual assault • Sexual assault is any type of sexual activity that a person does not agree to. It can include touching that is not okay; putting something into the vagina; sexual intercourse; rape; and attempted rape. • Sexual assault can be verbal, visual, or anything that forces a person to join in unwanted sexual contact or attention.
Statistics • Most rape victims fall into the age group of 16-25 years • 75% of male and 55% of female students in an occurrence of date rape had been drinking or using drugs • 50% of high school boys and 42% of girls said there were times it was acceptable for a male to hold a female down and physically force her to engage in intercourse. • 84% of women who were raped knew their assailants.

If someone approaches you and you feel uncomfortable, don’t stay silent. • Have a cellphone with you. Make sure it’s programmed with your parents’ phone number, and don’t be afraid to call 9-1-1 if you feel threatened
