You Know that we sometimes find mealworms in food.Mealworms can sense if the environment is damp or dry.Sometimes conditions change. The mealworm´s body helps it react to the changes. So we wanted to know,if they prefer damp or dry places.
- We used a tub - Sand- 2 sponges and a plastic spoon- Water - Mealworms and food
We placed the damp sponge at one end of the tub,and the dry sponge at the other end.
We put food in the center, between the two sponges, and the mealworms on the food.
After some minutes we observed that some of them were on dry sponge
We observed them for a week putting more water on the damp sponge every day
Three weeks later we realized that there were some beetles instead of mealworms
So we concluded that mealworms turned into beetles and they like to be on damp places
