Taejongdae is a natural park of Busan, South Korea with magnificent cliffs facing the open sea on the southernmost tip of island of Yeongdo-gu. The park was designated by the state as cultural property in 2005 and was recognized as a national geological park in 2013.

  2. Busan Taejongdae Resort Park is a natural park of Busan, South Korea with magnificent cliffs facing the open sea on the southernmost tip of island of Yeongdo-gu. Taejongdae Resort Park was once used as a military base, and access for citizens was restricted until 1969, when the area was turned into a tourist destination. The park was designated by the state as cultural property in 2005 and was recognized as a national geological park in 2013

  4. Located along the coast of Yeongdo-gu (district), Taejongdae Park is covered with over 100 species of trees and is home to amazing views of Korea's gorgeous nature. On a clear day, visitors can see Japan's Tsushima Island, located more than 50 kilometers away

  6. Taejongdae was named after King TaejongMuyeol of Silla, who used to stop by the region and practice archery as he was mesmerized by the beauty of the landscape.   7. In the past, Taejongdae was known as Sinseondae, because it had beautiful scenery where sinseon (mystical Taoist hermits) would stay. There is also a legend that fairies would come to earth to play and bear children.   11. Tajeongdae Resort Park nestles at the tip of Yeongdo Island. Yeongdo-gu is the only district in Busan that is an island. Thus, the city’s subway does not enter the area. Taejongdae Resort Park allows only pedestrians, thus no cars or bikes can enter

  12. Busan Yeongdo Lighthousewas established in Taejongdae Park in December 1906 and has served as a guiding beacon of light to ships around Busan Port for over 100 years

  13. The old lighthouse was replaced with a new structure in 2004, turning the lighthouse into a coastal tourist attraction. The newly established site consists of the lighthouse, an art gallery, and a museum of natural history. The white cylinder-shaped lighthouse is 35 meters tall and its beam can be seen from as far as 40 kilometers away On days with clear skies you can see Japan’s Tsushima Island from the observatory.

  14. From the Yongdo Lighthouse stop, a stepped trail descends somewhat steeply through the forest. The trail descends to the “Light Beyond Limitation” statue by Korean artist Ji Sul Won Kyung-Lee, which is the most iconic symbol of Taejongdae

  21. Another myth surrounds Mang-buseok Rock, which is the sharp standing formation next to Sinseondae Terrace. Long ago, a faithful wife began waiting for the return of her husband, who was captured by the Japanese. Turning into the stone, she forever sits in anticipation for her husband's return
