Leisure/Recreation Movement • City and federal government needed to provide recreation programs so in 1910 the Boy Scouts were formed. • Each year, more than 40,000 youth attend more than 400 Scout camps nationwide
Continued • A study conducted in 2001 revealed that Boy Scout summer camps have an influence on the lives of young people who attend them. Some of the benefits are increasing self-confidence, improving decision-making abilities, and learning conflict resolution. • Gets youth involved in various outdoor activities. Keep kids physically and mentally active.
