Even while we as teachers are trying to manage the group, we need to remember that each student is a unique individual with unique talents and needs. Remembering and attending to this as much as possible aids effective teaching and learning. Another teacher, Donna Hunter, has said that even a class of all middle class, white students is NOT homogeneous. • Language and culture are not two things to be separated: they're inseparable. My advice: stop teaching the language and start teaching the students. Alexander Waid Individuality Students who believe you are sincerely interested in them will behave better. Talk to them like actual people, especially before/between classes. Byron Despres-Berry Teacher and student must both be open to learning, all the time, and nobody's perfect, which means we're not all open to everything all of the time. We can't possibly be.
